Ammar Al-Shabander Chief of Mission in Iraq, Institute for War & Peace Reporting

Ammar joined IWPR as the Iraq Country Director in April 2004. He has previously worked as Iraq Foundation's Programmes Coordinator in Iraq and prior to that as the Assistant Manager of the Iraq Information Network. He has a degree in Sociology & International Relations. Ammar has been covering the crisis in the middle East with focus on Iraq for many years. Ammar is currently the Iraq Programme Chief of Mission, holding the overall responsibility for all activities in Iraq.

Cilla Benkö Deputy Director General, Swedish Radio

Cilla Benkö is Deputy Director General of Swedish Radio and member of EBU's Executive Board. She has been working for Swedish Radio for over 20 years, including 12 in the news department. She began as a sports reporter, later becoming Head of the Business News Group and the News Group.

Jointly with SR Director General Mats Svegfors, Cilla has published an on-line 'book' about the ongoing media changes, Journalism 3.0 - Media Ecology and the Future, a forum for discussion about media's future.

Graham Ellis Controller of Production, BBC Audio and Music

Graham leads a team of almost 700 production staff based in London, Birmingham, Bristol and Manchester. Graham oversees studio operations for network radio across England, the radio outside broadcast fleets based in London and Manchester, and the BBC's network of city centre screens. Programmes for which he is responsible appear on BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Three, BBC Four, Radio 2, Radio 3, Radio 4, 6 Music, Radio 7 and the BBC World Service.

Ignasi Guardans Director of Public Affairs & Member Relations, EBU

Prior to joining the EBU, Ignasi Guardans was Member of the European Parliament (2004-2009), during which time he served on a number of committees, including the Culture and Education Committee, International Trade Committee, Civil Liberties and Home Affairs Committee.

In the Spanish Parliament Ignasi was involved in Education and Culture and Foreign Affairs initiatives, among others. He holds a Doctorate in international law from the University of Navarra in his homeland, Spain.

Arthur Landwehr Südwestrundfunk

Arthur Landwehr began his career as a radio journalist 1987 in Freiburg, at regional studio of Südwestfunk (SWF), today called Südwestrundfunk (SWR).

In 1999 SWR sent him to Washington DC as a foreign correspondent for all SWR radio programs. For his reporting from the United States Landwehr received the 'German-American Radio Award' of the RIAS-Commission Berlin in 2005. Since May 2006 he has been Editor-in-Chief for News and Information at SWR radio.

Vladimir Lusic Head of International Relations, Croatian Radio and HRT Music Productions

Vladimir was born and lives in Croatia, having spent 25 years in Australia. During that time he participated in the government's Radio Ethnic Australia project, and subsequently presented his own current affairs show on SBS TV, Vox Populi.

In 1989 he was awarded both the Walter Schauble prize for contribution to Australian multiculturalism, and the Golden Gavel by the Law Society for excellence in legal investigative reporting.

Hosam El Sokkari Head of Audience, Yahoo! Middle East

Mr. El Sokkari is responsible for building a stronger and richer content portfolio, merging users' experience across platforms and developing a stronger tie between media and community channels. He is a media professional with extensive experience in both new and traditional media (TV, radio and online) at an international level.

A former head of BBC Arabic and well-known TV presenter and moderator, Hosam has been selected as one of the top 10 media giants of the broadcast industry in the Middle East by Digital Studio magazine.

Rachel Oldroyd Deputy Editor, Bureau of Investigative Journalism

Rachel Oldroyd is the Deputy Editor of the Bureau of Investigative Journalism. Before joining the Bureau, Rachel spent 13 years at the Mail on Sunday, where she worked closely with many of today’s best investigative journalists and launched the award-winning Reportage section in Live magazine which, under her editorship, won more than a dozen top media awards.
